Intro to Y-CBT

A Half Day Introduction Course for All

This half-day training, open to all, offers an introduction to an innovative research-based anxiety management program. This approach combines the scientifically documented effects of yoga with cognitive behavioral therapy, creating a conscious mind-body link and a feeling of empowerment in moderating one’s own energy.

Participants will:
  • Learn how this program reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression by combining traditional psychology with yoga.
  • Learn several new Y-CBT techniques for anxiety management.
  • Understand effective methods for increasing self-value and self-compassion.The yoga component is adapted for all populations, virtually all done in chairs.
  • Review Important research about yoga and psychotherapy

Y-CBT FOR YOGA TEACHERS

Pre-requisite:  Intro To Y-CBT, offered May 15, 2021

In this half-day training, yoga teachers will learn how to help others manage anxiety using The Yoga-CBT Workbook for Anxiety. 

Participants will:

  • Engage in an important discussion of scope of practice and guidelines for yoga teachers when helping students with issues of anxiety and mental health.
  • Learn how Y-CBT blends yoga with traditional psychology
  • Review the theoretical and scientific underpinnings of Y-CBT for Yoga Teachers
  • Teachers will leave with a deeper understanding of how to use Y-CBT

Y-CBT for Yoga Teachers with Hari Kaur

Pre-requisites:  Intro to Y-CBT & Y-CBT for Yoga Teachers; offered May 15, 2021 and June 12, 2021 respectively.

As yoga teachers you can expect to receive a clear pathway to practicing and leading classes from the Y-CBT workbook. We will review the kundalini approach and a review of how to approach movement, asana, breath, and meditation from the Y-CBT perspective.

Over the course of this two day training, teachers will:

  • Gain an understanding of the techniques in leading Y-CBT yoga classes for relief of Anxiety and Depression
  • Teachers will leave with a recommended course outline and the ability to teach a yoga class series using The Y-CBT Workbook for Anxiety .

Manjit Kaur Khalsa Ed. D

Dr. Manjit Kaur Khalsa Ed.D is co-creator of Y-CBT (Yoga-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), a highly experienced Psychologist, a long time yoga teacher and the President of Sikh Dharma of MA, which oversees Guru Ram Das Ashram, Millis, MA. Co-author of The Yoga-CBT Workbook for Anxiety.

Julie Greiner-Ferris, LICSW

Julie Greiner-Ferris LICSW is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with 25 years of experience in the treatment of mental health issues. A graduate of Boston College GSSW, she is co-creator of Y-CBT (Yoga-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and is the Director of Outpatient Services at Riverside Community Care, in Upton MA.
