TRAINING TEAM
Kartar Khalsa learns in part by creating experiences where others can learn and grow together in strength and purpose. He’s been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga for 50 years. He also leads Level One and Level Two KY Teacher Trainings. He has been practicing and sharing Kundalini Yoga since 1975. He gains inspiration and knowledge from various traditions and yogic scriptures, in which kundalini energy is seen as a universal concept that refers to the dormant energy at the base of our spine.

More about the course from Kartar Khalsa…
Conscious Communication is the Level Two course that gives you skills to reach others, to truly hear and hold space for others, and to compassionately embrace your own internal dynamics and self talk. That’s a big order!!
We tend to talk a lot. Communication is something different. It happens when there is a real exchange – where the inner concept, the inner awareness that I have reaches the other person and vice versa. We talk to make an impression, we talk to socialize and share space, but we rarely share what’s truly “going on” inside us. When asked how we are we most frequently reply, “fine”. No matter how we truly are.
Real speaking doesn’t originate with the lips, the mouth, or the throat. It doesn’t even originate with the heart. It comes from the gut. It uses the intelligence we recognize when we say “I knew it in my gut.”
And we are not good listeners. We think listening means hearing words and we tend to pay attention like jumping frogs. We hear something we either like or don’t like, then a thinking process activates and we lose track of the conversation. True, or what in yoga is often called deep listening, is to hold a space for another so that they have the support of another person who doesn’t intrude into the space where the other is exploring. It means to give the other one’s full emotional presence, to catch the words, but also notice the body language, even the type of possible tension in the other’s voice; to catch what they would say if they could, and to also note the other end of the conversation — the traffic in the mind of the listener. This quality of presence, of real listening, takes practice.
It is worth it. It is key to the success of any person.
This course also shares ways to use internal voices, even what we call negative self talk, to advantage.
Besides the materials in the manual, this course will use, among other works, Radical Candor, the work of Kim Scott from her time at Google, Loving What Is, the seminal work on our inner traffic by Byron Katie, who’s taught all over the world, and Zero Limits, the work of Dr. Hew Len.
Besides the presentation of materials, the Kriyas of Kundalini Yoga, and yogic wisdom from centuries, the emphasis will be on practicing these skills with various partners until they become one’s own. We will not be using any Kundalini Yoga video classes in the course.
