During cold and coughs season having a soothing remedy at hand for that sore throat or middle of the night coughing spell it is always a nice idea.
Cinnamon is full of antioxidants, antifungal properties, helps break up congestion and clear the sinuses. When combined with the antibacterial, antiviral and anti-microbial properties of raw honey it adds healthy benefits and could reduce the severity and length of a cold at least 2 days.
Honey Cinnamon Syrup Recipe:
1 cup of raw honey
4-6 sticks of cinnamon
Directions: Pour 1 cup of honey into a saucepan, drop in the cinnamon sticks and push them down to submerge them. For about 10 minutes on low heat let the mixture heat up. After 10 minutes store in a glass jar, you can use it as soon as it cools off. If stored in a glass jar with a tightly fitting lid, placed away from direct sunlight it could last up to 6 months.
You could take 1 teaspoon 2 times a day for 3 days as soon as you feel a cold coming or could add it to your tea.
